All That Was

Karen and Gyle, complete and utter enemies, became lovers the moment their skins had touched each other.
Just a minutes ago, they were literally trying to kill each other, shooting at each other relentlessly.
Karen, to escape Gyle.
Gyle, to toy with Karen.
Karen had gotten the upper hand by hitting Gyle with a Stun Gun.
If Karen didn’t feel that spark somewhere in her heart, maybe she WOULD have shot Gyle in between his eyes with his own gun.
Yet, Karen chose to do the last thing enemies should be doing.
Making out.
This sudden turn of events had turned for an awkward alliance.
“I’ll get you out of here.” Said Gyle to Karen, holding her like it’s the last thing they could do.
He lifted her up and carried her to the cabinet just left of the unconscious little nitwit, Coby, who was tasered at least twice. By Karen and Gyle.
“W-What about him?” Karen pointed to Coby.
Gyle sighed and picked up his gun.
“You’re not gonna kill him, are you?”
“He’s been here too long. He’s going to be trouble if he wakes up.”
He probed the .44 Magnum at Coby’s neck.
“Wait!” Karen stopped him.
That was right. Karen was some sort of robin hood, who stole for the poor. Coby was young and starting out. Killing him would make Karen depressed or at least guilty.
Gyle gave another small sigh and lifted Coby off the floor.
“Wait, what are- Gyle, you’re not taking him with us are you?”
“I wasn’t called the most ruthless man of tinfurd for nothing.” He gave Karen the gun.
“Here, carry this while I carry you guys. When this moron wakes up, he can handle himself.”
As if Coby was just a rag doll, Gyle slung him on his shoulder and carried Karen with 1 hand.
Gyle kicked the cabinet away to reveal an emergency escape hole.
This reminded Karen of bad memories about the bad men that killed her parents. She was forced to crawl through a cramped and dark tunnelway to get to Jim’s house.
They jumped in and they were in a dark, rustic catacomb.
“With the people you’ve killed, Tinfurd is in a frenzy trying to find us. They don’t know I’m with you yet. In this tunnelway, are patrol guards. We’re going to kill them all in the dark. When we get to the exit, there’s gonna be another one there. He’s a friend of mine, Terry. He wont think twice about joining my side, and he can get us out of here. I also know your mole in this compound. We can get him on our way out. When we exit this building, no one is going to leave alive.”
“What? But there are innocent people in there!”
“Already taken care of. I set a room on fire and all the civilians and employees are already out of here.”
“But we just met when we saw each other. How did you do all that?”
“Gyle Winfreed is always ready for betrayal.” With that, he revealed an array of buttons from the inside of his coat. All labelled with rooms.
“Tinfurd also owes me some things. Being the cunning man I am, I already held them to a lot of things and threatened to take them down when they diss me. Right now, I’m doing it for a change of heart.” With that, he gave Karen a kiss.
“Alright, down you go. You can walk from here, right?” Karen nodded, but felt insecure. She may have had the toughest mafia man protecting her, but she herself didn’t feel especially ready. With her slop of a duel with Gyle just a while ago, she was forced to ditch her gun and she had forgotten her switchblade at Room 15.
All she had left was a Stun Gun her big brother left her with.
While she’s relieved to have something to protect herself with, she felt that pang of inferiority towards the upcoming enemies that they may face.
Gyle laid Coby to the ground and slapped his face.
“Hey. Wake up you idiot.”
“...Urm...Is it Christmas... Oh my golly. You’re Gyle Winfreed.”
Gyle gave a small smile which looked kind, but that small vein that throbbed in his temple spelled annoyance.
“Ok...Coby” There was a glint of excitement in Coby’s eyes. It looked like meeting the toughest Mafioso was already a sign that he’d help them.
“We’re defecting. We’re going to help Karen here get out.” It was fairly obvious how big a fan Coby was, cause he had no problem helping with anything.
“Tinfurd’s not that great anyways.” Before they continued on, Karen stopped him first.
“Hey, um... Sorry, for uh, Tasing you back there. I was just doing my job.”
Coby gave a small nod of approval.
“It’s alright.” Gyle beckoned them all forward.
“Shut your lights.” Footsteps.  “Stay there you two. Take out your weapons and be ready for anything.”
Karen had her Stun Gun approximately near her chest. Coby took out a can of pepper spray.
“Pepper Spray? What kind of Mafioso are you?” Karen said as she inspected the can.
“Hey! Initiate, remember? I got a gun, but I’m supposed to save my bullets for danger. Besides, this can saved me more than once.”
Gyle was like a shadow in the darkness. He approached an old looking man wearing a ragged, brown suit. He only had a desert eagle.
“This is for taking my poker cash, Len” Gyle grabbed Len’s head and it snapped as quick as the wind blows.
“Coast is clear.” Karen and Coby comes  out of hiding. Gyle tosses the Desert Eagle to Karen and a magazine.
“You have 16 bullets. Use them wisely.”
She would and she’d make sure of that.
The stretch to the exit was a long one.
It may be a long and narrow way, but it would be stupid to think that they were safe. Guards are there and they will kill them.
As they walked on, there was a click of a gun.
“Drop your gun.” Gyle and Coby were caught. But Karen was still undetected. Gyle gave her a signal to move behind the man.
“Thought you can just go rogue on us huh, tough guy? And you! When I’m threw with him, you’re gonna wish you didn’t join this mafia you little piece of shit.” There was a click and Gyle’s eyes sent a message to Karen. “Any time now!”
Karen placed the Stun Gun to the man’s neck.
“What the-“ There was nothing but electricity.
The man was down and his eyes rolled to the back of his head.
“You’ve been using that Stun Gun all day. Doesn’t that thing ever lose any battery?”
“Super heavy duty, personally created by my brother. It can last for 3 years. I have 5 of the stuff.”
Gyle and Coby merely looked at her, astounded to how her brother can create something as dangerous as a battery that can last for 3 years.
“What? It came with the Stun Gun’s box he gave me.”
“Let’s keep moving.” Gyle said.
Most of the people in the catacomb were people he knew. Yet, he knew them because he hated them. Heck, he hated most of the people in Tinfurd. It was a miracle he even had friends in Tinfurd. He hated them cause of stuff they had done to him. Most were small, but to Gyle, every mistake counted to his tab. And every time that tab grew bigger, he hated everyone more every day. Only Terry was able to not stay on his tab. If he did have something there, he paid it back immediately.
“Come on, the exit’s almost there.”
Yet, it was still a far stretch. Even when they were a few meters there, 3 guards stood as obstacles.
The last 3.
“I’m surprised you made it this far. Let’s cut the small talk and-“
Gyle shot the guy before he finished the sentence.
“You shot him!” said the guy in the left.
“I’ve had enough of this bullshit. Can’t you see I wanna get out of this dark tunnel?! Look, I have a girl I have to make out with, so if you don’t mind, can you please just die right now?!”
Coby and Karen pulled their guns out and shot the other 2 dead.
“That was so cool.” Coby said.
“Yet kinda anti climactic” Karen replied.
“Sometimes, final bosses are just disappointing.”
They were gonna open the door when 2 others grabbed Coby and Karen from behind.
“Aaahhh!! AAHHH!!!” Coby was hysterically flailing around.
“Stop...Agh! Moving!!” Coby did not. And, in a split second later, Coby sprayed the man’s eyes with his pepper spray.
“Oh God! My Eyes! My fucking Eyes!”
“Pepper spray. Don’t mess with it, bitch.”
Karen wasn’t having the same luck. The man holding her was bigger and had the grip of a bear.
“Gah! Let... Go of me!” She bit the man’s arm, but immediately spit.
“Ew! What do you wash this with, toilet water?!”
“It’s our bar soap, ok?!” He said in embarrassment. The desert eagle was knocked from her hand.
She reached into her pocket and grabbed the stun gun.
She stepped on the guy.
“You’re lucky I wasn’t wearing heels today!” she shouted. And while the guy fell down. She placed the Stun Gun on the man’s neck and zapped him for 5 minutes.
She fumbled for the Desert Eagle. Before the man could regain consciousness, she shot the man dead.
Coby did the same. In final respect, he closed the attacker’s eyes.
“He was my instructor. It’s the last thing I could do for him.” With those words, He had instantly gained Karen’s respect.

Outside, they met with Terry and Jim’s mole, Tart. No one knows why he’s called Tart.
In the front door, a very angry mafia boss was standing in front of them with a STEN submachine gun.
“I’m going to pop lead in you all!” Those were his final words as everyone pointed their guns at him.
“Adios, Asshole” They all shot at once. The streets were oddly devoid of citizens.
The boss fell facedown with bullet wounds in every direction. Gyle handed Karen a button.
“Want to do the honors?” She smiled.
“Buh bye” With one press, Tinfurd was incinerated. Just ashes in the ground and rubble piling in all directions.
“Holy...Shit.” They turned around. There was a Teenager and his younger sister standing there.
“Ian...Was that...” said the girl. They were holding ice cream. The girl’s strawberry ice cream was melting. Ian’s fell off the cone. A waste of 5 dollars.
“Heather...that bank didn’t blow up just now, right? I’m just seeing things, right?”
Heather slapped Ian.
“Thanks.” They all stared at the two teenagers with mild amusement.
The two just stood there with surprised faces and opened mouths. Gyle gave them a sly grin and carefully placed his index finger to his lips.
“Shh...” The two fidgeted with nods and were backing away, then started running. Humorously, Ian slipped on his ice cream and fell on the pavement before rushing to catch up with his sister.
“You think they’ll tell the cops?” asked Coby.
“Nah. They seemed like good kids.” Gyle said.
“And good kids DON’T tell cops they saw a bunch of people blow up a building?” Karen said.
“Good Kids from Detroit.”
With the mission finished, they headed for Karen’s house. Jim opened the door and instantly placed a P90 semi-automatic pistol to Gyle’s head. His eyes held fury and fear at the same time. He had to protect his sister, but he was afraid of the toughest Mafioso in the area.
“What do you want?” Sweat trickled down Jim’s head. Karen placed her hand on his shoulder.
“Put the gun down. He’s my boyfriend.” Jim laughed. He continued until he noticed no one laughed with him. Gyle just stared with an amused smile.
“You’re not kidding are you? SERIOUSLY?! You’re dating HIM off all people? Karen, did you smoke pot?”
“No, but she did kiss me all of a sudden.” Gyle interjected.
That left silence. But after a careful, in depth explanation, Karen managed to calm her brother down.
“Alright, fine. I guess you get a plus for blowing up your own mafia. But why?”
“That’s the power of love.”
“Huh. Love eh. I can’t believe you got hooked faster than I did.” It was true. Karen had been lucky at that age. Jim didn’t have a girlfriend, and he was in his thirties.
“Welcome to the family.” He opened his arms, accepting a hug. Coby oddly joined in.
“You’re not-“ Jim started
“Nope” Karen replied. Coby was just being his spontaneous self. Like hell Karen would date him.

A year after Tinfurd’s destruction, the entire family relocated to San Francisco. They were considered family cause they all stuck together. Even Coby, Terry, and Tart.
They didn’t do dangerous jobs anymore. Tinfurd’s money had provided enough for them to live for years. Karen and Gyle decided to move in together in a small apartment. The plaque read Apartment 64.
Their lives were beginning.

San Francisco: Local Barnes and Nobels book store.

“Heya. Find a good book?” Karen was sipping coffee. They went cause Panic! At the Disco was playing there today. Karen liked Panic! At the Disco.
It was odd seeing Gyle dressed in normal clothes. Just a black tee and jeans. He was wearing glasses and a beanie to make him more simple.
“I found Battle Royale.” His love for violent media has yet to subside though. Karen laughed. A year ago, they were shooting at each other. Today, they were one of those annoying couples who cant get enough of each other.
Gyle got a job at a local office firm. Karen owned a cafe.
“Hey... Ballad of Monalisa’s on.” Karen dragged Gyle to the stage. Gyle was ready. He’d been waiting for that song. Not cause he liked it, cause he had a little talk with the band days ago.
Karen loved that song. Gyle knew it.
“Ok, before we continue, can we get a Gyle Winfreed and Karen Hunning up here on stage?” Brendon Urie’s voice echoed the room.
“Gyle ,Karen.”
Gyle quickly pushed themselves up.
“Gyle, what is going on?” Karen was giggling in surprise.
They were on stage, in front of the band. In front of a LOT of people.
“Karen, we met just a year ago, but our lives changed forever and I can’t find a person I love more than you.” He kneeled on one knee and took a tiny black box out. In it was the most beautiful, blue ring with a red pearl latched to it.
“Will you marry me?” Karen was speechless. Words wouldn’t cut how many times she’d say yes. Instead...
“Woah! Is that a yes?” Brendon Urie was stunned. Karen had grabbed Gyle’s face and kissed him. Again and again.
“It’s a yes.”

“He proposed?!” Jim’s voice echoed so hard in their room.
Coby fell off the chair and Tart was eating a candy bar.
“Who?” Terry asked.
“Gyle. He proposed to Karen.” It was obvious Jim couldn't hide his excitement.
The dream couple finally did it.
Then, in 5 months, they held a wedding ceremony in a local church. Most of Karen’s friends were once homeless people she helped and her comrades.
Gyle... Well, lets say at least there’s Terry and Coby to make up for it. There were 6 in total who came for Gyle.
His best man was undeniably Terry. Coby was jealous though.
This time, Paramore came instead of Panic! Brendon Urie was sick and Hayley Williams had to sub for him. It was fine. Gyle was happy, since that’s HIS favourite band.
They sang My Heart.
Karen wore a beautiful white gown that looked like she would trip with one mistake. But, that was just the decoration. Karen twirled, and as if she copied the Hunger Games, The dress transformed into a beautiful black one. It was relatively shorter.
A year later, Karen had just given birth to their first (And Only) Son, Brian Winfreed. He was conceived on their honeymoon at Hawaii.
Those were the last years of happiness for them.
Brian was only 2, and it was their anniversary. Not to mention Karen's birthday.  Karen dropped little Brian at her brother’s place. The guys were ecstatic to play with the little boy.
Gyle wasn’t getting home until later that night, so Karen wanted to do something special for him. As she entered the apartment, a man, not Gyle, stood in front of her.
“Ryan Gunesse.” A thin smile formed on his wicked face.
“Oh, so you know me.”
There weren’t a lot of weapons in the apartment. The Stun Gun was at the table though. If she could distract him long enough...
“I’ve been hunting you for years, dear Karen. The Organization is very angry.” She gave him a mocking laugh.
“Like hell they are. They’re our friends. I doubt they’d just send you to murder me. No, you’re working for someone else, aren’t you.” He licked his thumbs.
“Very perceptive! ” Karen was starting for the Stun Gun, but a blade had whizzed into her shoulder.
“You don’t stand a chance. Give up.” Karen pulled the knife out and attempted to rush him. It didn’t help that she wore heels.
She staggered and fell to the floor.
He grabbed her by the hair. Another knife from his sleeves appeared.
“Good Night. Karen.”
Her thoughts drifted to Gyle. To her son. To her family. To everything.
She shut her eyes and let a tear run down her cheek.
I’m sorry.... Gyle.
